Training the Next Generation of Global Leaders Through Music
This August 2019, the Gustavo Dudamel Foundation will collaborate with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra to train the next generation of global musicians through guided mentorship and performance. Furthering GDF’s mission to encourage intercontinental dialogue through music, 41 young musicians from around the world will perform Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, “The Titan” under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel at the Castell de Peralada Festival on August 10.
Students from Venezuela, Sweden, Spain, Argentina, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Norway, South Korea, Colombia, and the United States will play side-by-side with musicians of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, encompassing players from 22 countries across 5 continents.
In addition to the performance, the Gustavo Dudamel Foundation is facilitating a two-day “Seminario” for the young musicians, which includes dedicated mentorship by members of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. The Seminario underscores the educational and philanthropic role of GDF as a catalyst for uniting people through music while thoroughly preparing young musicians to perform at the highest level.

Antonio Lasheras (19) is a student at the Reina Sofia in Madrid, Spain.
Montserrat Seras (22) is from Argentina and currently a student at Conservatori Superior de Liceu in Liceu, Spain.
Samantha Rosas (23) is a student at Sacramento State University in California, United States. Samantha also works part time as a music teacher.
David Fonseca (21) is a student living in Barcelona, Spain.
Rut Mateu (20) is a student at the Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Aragon in Zaragoza, Spain.
Michael Yeung (21) is a student of music from Hong Kong.
